Samsung's Bespoke Jet range and Dyson's V15 Detect take different routes to the same job. Samsung puts a lot into the dock: the Clean Station charges the vacuum and empties its bin into a bag. Dyson puts its effort into sensing, with a particle counter and a screen. This guide compares the Samsung Bespoke Jet Plus Pro Extra and the newer Bespoke AI Jet CompleteClean against the Dyson V15 Detect Animal on emptying, batteries, heads, weight and runtime, using the makers' listing figures and noting where the two brands measure things differently.

The key figures side by side

Samsung quotes suction in watts (W) while Dyson is known for quoting air watts (AW). The two are measured by each maker's own method, so do not compare them as if they were the same unit. The table sticks to figures the listings state.

Clean Station against a wall dock

The biggest practical difference is emptying. Samsung's Clean Station is a floor-standing base that charges the vacuum and empties the bin. On the Plus Pro Extra, Samsung calls the emptying system Air Pulse and says it empties the bin and closes the cover. The AI Jet CompleteClean listing includes three 1.2 L dust bags for the station, so you will need to buy replacement bags over time.

The Dyson V15 Detect hangs on a wall dock and you empty the 0.76 L bin by hand over a bin. That means more contact with dust but no bags to buy. If you dislike emptying by hand, the dock is a strong reason to pick Samsung. Our guide to the best cordless vacuums with a self-emptying dock lists more options.

Batteries and runtime

Both Samsung models list up to 60 minutes on one battery with a removable or replaceable pack. The Plus Pro Extra listing also quotes up to 120 minutes, which relies on an extra battery, so check whether your bundle includes a second pack. Charge time is listed at 3.5 hours.

Dyson lists up to 60 minutes for the V15 Detect Animal, and the V15 is widely documented as having a click-in battery that can be swapped. As with Samsung, the maximum is measured in the lowest setting, so expect less with the motorised head on higher power. Use our runtime planner to check whether one battery covers your home, and see our swappable battery guide if you need longer.

Note:Use the maker's charger or Clean Station, never use a damaged or swollen battery, and take old lithium packs to a battery recycling point rather than household waste.

Heads, sensors and the laser question

The Dyson V15 Detect Animal comes with a High Torque head with a de-tangling comb and a Hair screw tool for furniture. Its piezo sensor sizes and counts dust and raises suction, and the LCD shows the counts. The V15 Detect range is widely sold with a soft roller head that projects a light across hard floors to show fine dust, but that head is not listed in the Animal bundle here, so check the box contents if it matters to you.

Samsung's Plus Pro Extra includes a Jet Dual Brush, a Slim Action LED Brush with a light for hard floors and a Pet Tool+ with a rubber nozzle and bristles. The AI Jet CompleteClean adds an anti-tangle Jet Dual Brush, a Slim LED+ brush and an AI Cleaning Mode that adjusts power and battery use to the surface. So both brands offer a lit head for hard floors, while only Dyson lists a particle count readout.

Weight, storage and noise

Samsung lists the Plus Pro Extra at 2.74 kg and the Dyson V15 Detect Animal at 3 kg, so the Samsung is a little lighter on paper. Makers measure weight differently, so treat this as a rough guide. Samsung lists a noise level of 86 dB for the Plus Pro Extra; the Dyson listing does not give one.

The Clean Station needs floor space near a socket, roughly like a tall bin. The Dyson needs a wall to fix its dock to, or a floor stand where Dyson offers one for your model. Think about where you will keep the vacuum before you choose. For lighter options, see the best lightweight cordless vacuums.

Who should buy which

None of these is a poor choice. The dock is the deciding feature for most people, so start with whether you want bagged self-emptying or are happy to empty by hand.

  • Samsung Bespoke Jet Plus Pro Extra: you want a self-emptying dock, a removable battery and a 5-year listed warranty.
  • Samsung Bespoke AI Jet CompleteClean: you want the newer AI mode, bagged dock emptying and a 10-year listed motor warranty.
  • Dyson V15 Detect Animal: you want the largest bin of the three, particle sensing with a screen and Dyson's wide range of tools and parts.
