Our take
How the sensing works, according to Dyson
Dyson describes two separate feedback loops. The first is the piezo sensor in the airflow, which keeps sizing and counting dust and increases suction when it detects more. The second sits in the floor head: in Auto mode, DLS technology checks how hard the brush bar is working 360 times every second and adjusts power for carpet or hard floor.
The practical upshot is that you are not expected to switch modes by hand as you move from a rug to a kitchen floor. The screen then gives a running account of the clean, which some owners will find reassuring and others will simply ignore.
The parts that deal with hair
The High Torque cleaner head carries a de-tangling comb that clears hair from the brush bar automatically, so the usual job of cutting wrapped strands free with scissors should come up far less often. For furniture, stairs and dog beds there is a separate Hair screw tool with a conical brush bar, which is motor driven and designed to spiral long hair off the bar and into the bin.

Amazon lists a 0.76 litre bin, a washable HEPA filter, touchpad controls and a runtime of up to 60 minutes. The listing does not split that runtime by mode or head, so treat it as a best case rather than a figure for a full carpet session on maximum power.
The weight is given as 3 kg and the height as 126.4 cm. Three kilograms is fine for pushing across floors, but you will feel it when lifting the machine to clear cobwebs or cleaning the stairs in handheld form. Keeping the filter clean is a rinse job rather than a replacement purchase, since the listing describes it as washable.
Against the V10 Animal and the Dreame Z30 Ultra
Within Dyson's range, the V10 Animal shares the 0.76 litre bin and the 60 minute ceiling but weighs 2.66 kg and relies on three manual modes rather than automatic sensing. If you are happy to choose the power level yourself, it covers much of the same ground.
