The Unlimited 6 BCS612GB is the entry point to Bosch's cordless range, and Bosch calls it the lightest and most compact model it makes. It is meant for flats and smaller homes where the vacuum comes out for short, frequent cleans. Its main draw is that two batteries come in the box, so a dead pack does not end the job.

In its favour

  • Bosch describes it as its lightest and most compact cordless model, at a listed 2.3 kg.
  • Two battery packs are supplied, giving up to 60 minutes when both are charged.
  • The battery works across Bosch's Power For All range of 18V tools and appliances.

Good to know

  • The 0.3 L dust box is small and will need emptying often on carpets.
  • The 60 minute runtime depends on using both batteries, and each lasts about half that.

Our take

Two batteries from the Power For All system

Bosch quotes up to 60 minutes of run time, but read the small print: that figure depends on the power setting and on using both charged batteries. The spec table lists about 30 minutes per pack, so think of it as two half hour sessions rather than one long one.

The packs are 18 V Power For All batteries. If you already own Bosch green garden or DIY tools, the same batteries swap between them, and the reverse also works if you buy into the system later.

Weight, noise and the floor brush

At a listed 2.3 kg, it is easy to lift onto a shelf or carry up a staircase. Listed noise is 71 dB, which is the quietest figure among the Bosch models compared on this site and noticeably lower than the 82 dB quoted for the Unlimited 7.

Bosch describes the floor head as an AllFloor brush driven by a DigitalSpin motor, for carpets, hard floors and upholstery. There are no LEDs or Flex Tube mentioned, which are features Bosch keeps for the Unlimited 7.

Filter, bin and what is in the box

The dust box holds 0.3 L, so expect to empty it after each room or two on carpet. Bosch fits a lifetime cartridge hygienic filter and says emptying is easy, with no bags to buy.

The box includes a long flexible crevice nozzle, an XXL upholstery nozzle with adapter, a mattress tool, a charger and a docking station, along with both battery packs. The docking station keeps the vacuum and its tools together in a cupboard or hallway.

Where it sits against the Unlimited 7 and Dyson V8 Origin

The Bosch Unlimited 7 BCS712GB adds the bending Flex Tube, an LED lit DynamicPower brush and a stronger TurboSpin motor, but it is heavier at 2.8 kg and louder.

The Dyson V8 Origin has a bigger 0.54 L bin and a wall dock, but only one battery and up to 40 minutes with a non-motorised tool.

Verdict

Pick the Unlimited 6 BCS612GB if you want a quiet, light stick for a flat and like the idea of a spare battery, especially if you already use Bosch 18 V tools. If you need to reach under low furniture or want lights on the floor head, the Bosch Unlimited 7 BCS712GB is the step up, and the Dyson V8 Origin suits buyers who prefer a bigger bin.
